Due
to the color of the background, the addition of a solid dark yellow bar at the
bottom of the age made the black text visible. The headline had to be shifted
up so that it was more noticeable against the brown bark. I changed the
headline yellow to make it pop against the other colors of the cover photo. The
magazine name font changed for stylistic preferences. The photo was chosen
because of the attractive color scheme. The red plant is directly centered
drawing the gaze to the cover of the magazine.
I
made little changes to the layout of the contents page. The only changes made
were in font choices and the color of the border. I mainly focus on picking
photos from the various location visited to place in the contents section. I
choose photos that contrasted each other and added color to the page. I also
added an arrow next to the word “contents”, so that the word stood out more. I
also change the color of the border so that it complements the yellow theme of
the cover page.
The close-up at the 1st article page
was taken on my second photo shoot due to the poor quality of some of the
photos taken on the first photo shoot. Inspired by previous magazines in my
research, the close-up image takes up less than half of the page. I chose to
write about “The Value of Florida’s Mangroves” because most of the national
parks I visited had mangroves along the shoreline. I was able to retrieve
photos that complemented the article topic and show examples of mangroves in
Florida.
Page
2 design layout was inspired by another magazine I had research. The use of
images to break the border between the two columns gives the page an abstract
and more appealing appearance. Page two mainly focuses on the national
parks/preserves in Florida that contains mangroves. I change the color scheme
of one of the photos to black and white for added effect on the design of the
page. I added a brief description directly below each photograph on page 2. The
photos were mainly chosen for correlation to the articles on the page. The font
on page 1 and 2 were decided base on the professional and fresh design. I added
a quote from the interview, highlighting certain words in a different color for
dramatic effect.
