Today in class we utilized adobe
InDesign to layout a 2-page spread. At first, I found the program intimidating since
the layout is much different than publisher, however as we went along with the
teacher I got more comfortable with the program. I believe I would use InDesign
because it is easier to adjust the title and borders on my cover and article
page. InDesign allows for a lot of negative space to be covered on the page.
pictures are not difficult to adjust, and the columns of the text can be
adjusted to look uniform. I also like the restrictive border of the page, which
solves my problem of my text overflow on my magazine 2 page spread.
The global circulation of National Geographic is approximately 6.7 million, including U.S. circulation of 3.5 million. The cover page includes the title of the magazine, National Geographic , in the background located at the top of the page. The magazines subheading is in the foreground in the middle of the cover page. Each title is in plain white text, possible demonstrating the articles professionalism. The issue’s subheading, Last of Its Kind , connects with the cover picture, sporting a rhino laying on the ground with a man resting his forehead on the rhino. The color scheme composes of greens, greys and browns, displaying a neutral tone to the articles cover.
